*Just in case you didn’t already have plans for the next few days (as if, you popular person, you), here’s your list of 3 things to do in Milwaukee this weekend…and 1 not to do.*
1) MKE Oktoberfest (21+)
Friday 09/30: Marcus Center Grounds 4pm – 11pm / Pere Marquette Park Noon – 11pm
Saturday 10/01: Marcus Center Grounds & Pere Marquette Park Noon – 11pm.
Sunday 10/02: Marcus Center Grounds 10am – 6pm / Pere Marquette Park Noon – 6pm
Time to celebrate the coming season of crunchy leaves, warm flannel, and pumpkin spice like a good German city should: Oktoberfest. The yearly event straddles the Milwaukee River on both the Marcus Center grounds and in Pere Marquette Park. It’s free to enter, with your more standard festival atmosphere on the east side and the traditional biergarten tent on the west side. Live music, (not live) sausages, pretzels, and dirndls will be plentiful. Prost!
2) Heat It Up! MKE’s Bloody Mary & Chili Challenge (21+)
Saturday 10/01: 10am – 1pm
East Town Association is putting on their 7th annual Heat It Up bloody and chili challenge at Cathedral Square Park. With temps in the low 60s, it looks to be the perfect time to warm your belly with some spicy liquid goodness. $30 (tickets here) will get you 3 hours of unlimited tastings.
3) Milwaukee Film Festival (all ages)
Numerous dates and times
It’s the last full weekend of the Milwaukee Film Festival, and there are tons of fantastic local, national, and international flicks left to check out. From the beautifully-animated, to the hard-hitting and topical, and even some we have no idea how to describe, there’s zero chance you can’t find something you’d be interested in. Brewery and a movie, anyone?
NOT TO DO
1) Practice Face-painting on your Nephew
Poor little Kelly. Instead of face painting, we will be welcoming this cutie to the Brew City. #MKElly
