TO DO

1) Elvis Lives Birthday Party! (21+)
Saturday 01/06: Westallion Brewing Company (West Allis); 7pm (free)

The King never really died, considering we never really stopped listening to him. Join the rest of the world in wishing Elvis a happy birthday in person at Westallion Brewing Company, who’ll be throwing a party complete with an appearance by a (more alive) Elvis (impersonator).

2) Art+Tech Opening Reception (all ages)
Friday 01/05: Var Gallery & Studios (Walker’s Point); 5pm – 10pm ($?)

This eclectic Walker’s Point workspace has been churning out great art and featuring local artists for some time, but it is finally starting to get noticed by a wider audience. Head down to Var Gallery for a Friday night experience, when a dozen artists will showcase “the cross section of fine art and creative experimentation with modern technology”.

3) Grand Opening (all ages)
Saturday 01/06: Shake N Bake American Soul Kitchen (Thurston Woods); 10am – 9pm (price of meal)

Milwaukee can never have too many great new places for getting grub. In the midst of this unrelentingly-cold winter, Shake N Bake American Soul Kitchen near Glendale will be bringing a bit of southern comfort food to our frozen bellies with their grand opening party. Get the catfish while it’s hot.

NOT TO DO

1) Travel to Corpus Christi, TX in January thinking it’ll be warmer than 30 degrees
