TO DO

1) Milwaukee Comic Con (all ages)
Saturday 02/11: Wisconsin State Fair (West Allis); 10am – 4:30pm ($5)

The games probably won’t be “arm wrestling”. But you never know. All photos by Joe Powell.

Calling all comic-conners, cosplayers, and Stan Lee impersonators: the Milwaukee Comic Convention is back and so big they had to move it to the State Fairgrounds. So admittedly, I don’t know many names in the comic book circles, but there’s gonna be 200+ artists on hand, in addition to cosplay contests, and video and board game tournaments. Plus, everyone through the door gets a free comic book.

2) Keg Killer Winter Beer Festival (21+)
Saturday 02/11: Wisconsin State Fair (West Allis); 1:30pm – 5pm ($45)

Once you’ve satiated your comic book appetite, walk a minute away to The Micro still on the fairgrounds for Milwaukee’s only outdoor winter beer festival. The Keg Killer Winter Beer Festival will feature over 30 craft breweries with unlimited samplings and a souvenir glass. Plus, if the beer doesn’t keep you warm there’s food from the Leinie Lodge, live music, and a heated warm-up tent.

3) Homebrew Rally at MobCraft Beer (21+)
Saturday 02/11: MobCraft Brewery (Walker’s Point); 12pm – 8pm (free)

Our friends at MobCraft Beer, Milwaukee Beer Society, and Spike Brewing are throwing an informational (and probably raucous) home-brewing party this weekend. Dubbed a “brew and tell” event, home brewers are invited to bring their own equipment and expertise to this production facility, make some wort with friends, and learn some new tricks. A 10-gallon Spike Brewing system will be raffled off, and everyone gets to keep their wort to turn into beautiful beer.

NOT TO DO

1) Focus on the lack of football

Brewers tailgating season is almost here to fill the outdoor-sports-drinking hole in your belly.
