Though perhaps a bit outside the immediate Milwaukee area, Hartland is ready to cut the ribbon on Lake Country’s newest locally-owned coffee shop, Birch & Banyan. The local Chamber of Commerce will be there at 3PM for the official ceremony, but they’ll be open all day for drinks, bites, and swag.
The beautifully-restored Avalon Theater in Bay View has brought back their Second Saturday Classics feature again for another season. A mere $5 will get you a matinee showing of classic films you’d never have a chance of seeing on the big screens otherwise, while the $15 Brunch Package snags you the film plus breakfast sandwich, mimosa, and pastries. This month’s The Wizard of Oz. You won’t find a better brunch deal in town.
The Brew City Bully Club, as in pitbulls, is dedicated to “(r)ehabilitating the reputation of pit bull type dogs while reducing fear in the community.” This weekend, the nonprofit is raising funds in a unique and hilarious way: a Cards Against Humanity tournament. $10 gets you in the door as a spectator of the debauchery, with $30 getting a spot at a table. The fridge will be “stocked with beer, wine, soda and water as well as yummy items to snack on.”
NOT TO DO
1) Pop too many collars
It’s supposed to be sunny out there this weekend, Milwaukee. Careful with the collars.
