TO DO

1) Celebraciones de Cinco de Mayo (all ages)
Friday 05/05: North America (Earth); all day

Mexican Fiesta in Milwaukee. All photos by Joe Powell for The Squeaky Curd.

Today is Cinco de Mayo, which everyone at your place of employment has probably already said to you. Before you go celebrating anything, make sure you understand the real reason this day is remembered by our southern brethren. But then you can proceed to drink cerveza and tequila and margaritas all night around Milwaukee, content in your understanding that it’s really Americans over-indulging in the name of a minor battle victory in another country. No pasa nada.

2) The 143rd Running of the Kentucky Derby
Saturday 05/06: 6:43pm

The most exciting 2 minutes in sports surrounded by the most uncomfortably-large hats and uncomfortably-stuffy seer sucker suits is back for another year. We recommend donning your southern attire and catching the action at Derby Days 2017 at The Iron Horse Hotel, or placing a wager at Potawatomi. More options at OnMilwaukee.

3) Mutts and Mimosas (all ages)
Sunday 05/07: Lucky Mutts Rescue (West View); 10:30am – 1pm ($15)

Lucky Mutts Rescue, “Where Lucky Mutts Wiggle Butts”, is hosting their first annual Mutts and Mimosas brunch fundraiser. 50/50 raffle, bites and booze, and the chance to play with some of their four-legged rescue-able friends. Warning: you probably will go home with a new best friend.

NOT TO DO

1) Go overboard on slowly-warming weather.

Suns out buns out.
