1) 12th Annual Cuban Day Street Celebration (all ages)
Sunday 05/21: Cubanitas (East Town); 12pm – 8pm (free)
A whole block of downtown Milwaukee will turn into Little Havana this weekend, when Cubanitas throws their annual Cuban Day Street Celebration. Live Cuban music all day long, including dance lessons starting at 2PM. Grab a mojito, grab a Cuban sandwich, grab a dance partner, and soak in the island flair.
2) 13th Annual Milwaukee Pug Fest (all ages)
Sunday 05/21: Milwaukee County Sports Complex (Franklin); 10am – 4pm ($8)
Literally thousands of “Pug, Pug Mixes and ‘Smoochie-Faced’ breeds” come with their human owners to the “largest Pug event in North America.” Join your fellow pug people to see vendors, contests, and events all about your favorite goofy looking puppy. Interested dog owners welcome as well to see the rescues available.
3) 60th Annual Gem, Mineral & Fossil Show (all ages)
Saturday & Sunday 05/20-21: Muellner Building at Hart Park (Tosa); 10am – 5pm ($3)
For 60(!) years the Wisconsin Geological Society has been hosting this expo for all pretty things from the ground, though I suppose 60 years isn’t that long when compared to the age of these precious stones. Come see, trade, and purchase gems, minerals, and fossils that will outlive all of us.
NOT TO DO
1) Get too excited about gems, minerals, and fossils
