TO DO

1) Memorial Day Ceremony (all ages)
Monday 05/29: Wood National Cemetery (Veteran Affairs); 12pm – 8pm (free)

This weekend is a day longer for a reason: Memorial Day is about honoring our veterans and all those who’ve worked to keep America safe. Join others in paying your respects to the living and deceased members of our military at the Wood National Cemetery on the Milwaukee VA grounds. The Milwaukee American Legion Band will perform before the presentation of Colors & Ceremony.

2) Summer Untapped at The Micro (21+)
Friday, 05/26 5pm – 11pm
Saturday, 05/27 11am – 11pm
Sunday, 05/28 11am – 6pm
The Micro at WI State Fair (West Allis); (free)

Kick off summer with the Keg Killers themselves, The Micro craft beer tent at the Wisconsin State Fairgrounds. Tons of craft beer, live music, bags and “Micro” beer pong, tailgate food, and Bloody Mary Bar & Old Fashioned Bar for those of you needing more than just beer.

3) The 30th Annual Wilde Subaru Family Kite Festival (all ages)
Saturday & Sunday 05/27-28: Veterans Park (East Town); 10am – 5pm (free)

One of the coolest sights on Milwaukee’s Lake Michigan horizon is the annual Family Kite Festival, unofficially kicking off the summer festival season. Literally hundreds of kites will fill the air, from small kids’ kites to giant professional kites managed by whole teams. I recommend laying down on the grass below and just looking up at the wondrous sight above.

NOT TO DO

1) Go to work Monday

Then again, think of all the work you could get done uninterrupted…
