TO DO

1) The Great Wisconsin State Fair (all ages)
All weekend: State Fair Park (West Allis); 8am – 12am ($12)

The second and final weekend of The Great Wisconsin State Fair is upon us. If you haven’t already gotten your fill of fried food (we recommend the Sporkie winner from Albanese’s), fresh flavored milk, and farm animals, this is your last chance you city slicker.

2) 5th Annual Puerto Rican Family Festival (all ages)
Sunday 08/13: Humboldt Park (Bay View); 11am – 7pm (free)

Milwaukee’s local Latino newspaper, El Conquistador, is gathering our island-dwelling hermanos y hermanas in Bay View to celebrate all things Puerto Rico. There’ll be a health fair, Salsa dancing competition, and custom/classic car show, not to mention food on food on food.

3) Festival de Pulpo | Octopus Festival (all ages)
Sunday 08/13: Hotel Madrid (Walker’s Point); 12pm – 7pm ($15)

Though perhaps not native to our shores, if you’re not working fresh octopus into your meal routine, this festival will get you up to speed. Featuring some of Milwaukee’s finest restaurants (Black Sheep MKE, Wolf Peach Restaurant, Goodkind, MOVIDA, Yokohama MKE, Gibraltar Mke), serving up octopus (and mock-topus) tapas, there’s no better deal in town: $15 smackers is all it takes for four different tapas to choose from. That’s 8 thumbs up.

NOT TO DO

1) Ever run out of local beer

Biggest takeaway from last weekend’s #BBC17.
