*Just in case you didn’t already have plans for the next few days (as if, you popular person, you), here’s your list of 3 things to do in Milwaukee this weekend…and 1 not to do.*

TO DO

1) Milwaukee Empty Bowls Annual Fundraiser (all ages)
Sunday 10/09: Kern Center – MSOE; 11am – 2pm

For the 18th year, local volunteer non-profit, Milwaukee Empty Bowls, is hosting its annual fundraising event. Their mission is to “engage the community through ceramic and culinary arts to raise hunger awareness and provide resources to local agencies addressing food insecurity.” This Sunday you can donate $25 at the MSOE Kern Center and get your very own handcrafted ceramic bowl (to keep), made by a local artist, teacher, or student. That bowl is then filled (twice) with your choice of soup and bread from numerous local restaurants. Free parking at the Viets Field structure. A deliciously-worthy cause.

2) Retro Beer Night (21+) / Grand Tour Day (all ages) at the Fredrick Pabst Mansion
Friday 10/07: 6pm – 8pm (Retro Beer Night)
Saturday 10/08: 10am – 4pm (Grand Tour Day)

Two events in one weekend at the Captain Frederick Pabst Mansion: first, Friday is Retro Beer Night. For $35 you get the run of the house plus samplings of four classic Milwaukee beers: Pabst, Blatz, Schlitz, and Old Milwaukee. A silent auction and other fun to be had.

The next morning you can bring the whole family back for an entire day of full-access self-guided tours around the mansion. $15 for adults to see this amazing cultural and architectural landmark.

3) The Bosch Tavern Tug (all ages)
Saturday 10/08: 11am – 1pm

For over 100 years the Bosch Tavern has stood on the corners of Highway 100, Janesville Rd., and Forest Home Ave. in Hales Corners. But with a planned expansion of the turn lane on Hwy 100, the Victorian bar and meeting place needs to move to be saved from the wrecking ball – but only 25 feet!

For a $10 donation to the Penfields Children’s Center, you can grab a rope and help physically pull the tavern down the road to its new home. When else are you going to get the chance to literally move history?

NOT TO DO

1) Fall into a depression during Badger bye-week

RIP Tapeman. Photo by Joe Powell.

I know it’s tough to lose to Mr Khakipants, but now we get one week of rest (go look at changing foliage!) before smacking around tOSU again in Camp Randall. Take a breath and save up some jump around energy.
