TO DO

1) Brett Newski moves to Bayview! Housewarming show. (21+)
Friday 11/03: Cactus Club (Bay View); 9pm – 12:30am ($10)

What’s to be said about our favorite nomadic Milwaukee musician, Brett Newski, that hasn’t been said before? How about: he’s no longer a (full-time) nomad. That’s right, this dork-rocker has planted house-roots in Bay View, and is throwing a housewarming concert at the nearby Cactus Club for all to welcome him to the neighborhood. Welcome home, neighbor-ino!

2) The Annual Voyageur Scavenger Hunt (all ages)
Sunday 11/05: Voyageur Book Shop (Bay View); 1pm – 5pm (free)

All photos by Joe Powell for The Squeaky Curd.

Bay View’s funky little used-book shop, Voyageur, is welcoming the passerby off KK for a unique little day-long event. Stop in at your leisure, hop behind one of the old-school typewriters provided by Typewrite | Milwaukee, draft your own little poem (or three), and hide them in one of the thousands of books lining the shelves. Days, months, years from now some unsuspecting new bookworm is going to find a fun little typed, personal surprise from you.

3) Milwaukee’s First Fish Fry Eating Contest and Fundraiser (all ages)
Friday 11/03: O’Lydia’s Bar & Grill (Walker’s Point); 5pm – 10pm (price of a fish fry)

Order a traditional Friday fish fry from one of the city’s best fryers at O’Lydia’s in Walker’s Point, and a portion of the proceeds will head straight to Donate Life Wisconsin. What’s more, the entertainment for the evening (at 7PM) will see local celebrities Molly Snyder (OnMilwaukee), Jon Adler (FM 102.1), Fred Gillich (Too Much Rock for One Hand), Diane Marie (super bartender), and Nick Berg (accomplished artist) stuffing their faces in a fish fry-eating contest. No word yet on if they’ll be allowed to use their hands or simply need to smash their faces into it. Tune in to find out.

NOT TO DO

1) Ever be embarrassed for dressing like your best bud on accident
