TO DO

1) Mele Kalikimaka Holiday Party (21+)
Saturday 12/16: The Love Shack (Walker’s Point); 8pm – 1am (free)

Pretty much every bar in Milwaukee is throwing some sort of Christmas or holiday party this weekend, but The Love Shack tiki bar is standing out by bringing a little bit of Hawaiian warmth to chilly, snowy MKE. Their Mele Kalikimaka holiday party will give $100 to the best “Christmas inspired Hawaiian outfit”. Plus, for our Jewish friends, there will simultaneously be a Hawaiian L’Chaim going on upstairs.

2) The Newport’s 12 Annual Chili Cook-Off (all ages)
Sunday 12/17: Franky’s Newport (Bay View); 12pm – 3pm (free)

I’m a sucker for the unbelievably-cozy and welcoming (and dog-friendly) Franky’s Newport Lounge – especially for chili on a cold winter’s day. Stop on by this neighborhood watering hole with your best chili for a chance to win a bar gift card, cheer on the Green & Gold, and get some ice cold Schlitz on draught.

3) The Room (17+)
Saturday 12/16: Oriental Theatre (Lower East Side); midnight ($10.50)

Before you see the awards-buzzing The Disaster Artist with the Franco brothers, you must see the film that inspired it. The Room is as cult-classic as can be; so bad it’s…well it’s still not good, but you need to see it. And here’s your rare chance to see it on the big screen.

NOT TO DO

1) Dab when you win an award at The Squeaky Curd Gala

Rob Petrie dabbing on Joe’s sorry attempt to keep things orderly last year.

This is a formal, professional atmosphere we’re cultivating here, folks.
