TO DO

1) End of the World / White House Farewell Party! (21+)
Saturday 12/30: The Historic White House Tavern (Bay View); 7pm – 2am (free)

One of the oldest bars in Milwaukee, Kniesler’s White House Tavern, is closing down after some 125+ years on a wonky little corner of KK in Bay View. While the new owners haven’t mentioned what they’re going to do with the iconic building, we will assume it’s THE FREAKING END OF THE WORLD. We here at The Squeaky Curd have played volleyball in their backyard for a few years now (2016 Fall Magic Pumpkin Champs) and will be sad to say farewell to this neighborhood watering hole. Stop by for one last round: it’s all priced to move.

2) Love Actually “Love Package” (all ages)
Fri & Sat 12/29 & 30: Avalon Atmospheric Theater (Bay View); 10pm ($12)

The Christmas season ain’t over until Rick Grimes holds up cue cards and queues my waterworks. I, of course, am speaking of the instant-classic British film Love Actually (circa 2003), on the big-screen at the Avalon Theater for two nights only for a mere $5. Spot the $12 and get a flute of Champagne and house-made Parmesan Chive Crisps in addition to a ticket. Audience participation encouraged.

3) 31st Annual Cool Fool Kite Festival (all ages)
Monday 01/01: Veterans Park (East Town); 11am – 5pm (free)

Gift of Wings is flying high into their 3rd decade of bitter-cold winter kite flying. Freeze away your NYE hangover with the “COOL FOOL KITE FESTIVAL” while Polar Bears jump in the lake nearby. Free hot chocolate while it lasts (it won’t for long).
