*Just in case you didn’t already have plans for the next few days (as if, you popular person, you), here’s your list of 3+ things to do in Milwaukee this weekend…and 1 not to do.*
Perhaps the only thing us Millennials love more than brunch is Ugly Sweater parties. It meets our daily needs of: 1) doing something that can be Instagrammed, 2) wearing something “retro”, 3) partying.
Tonight there’s two downtown bars inviting the warm-vested in for some ugly fun. In fact, you can hit both of them starting at Miller Time Pub & Grill for dinner then the SafeHouse for late night holiday dancing.
Burgeoning Walker’s Point brewery Urban Harvest used to be a community theater space, and this Saturday they will be again, hosting local improv group Mojo Dojo Comedy for a holiday-themed event. The Santa Diaries promises to answer the questions about what the immortal Santa Claus is up to the other 364 days a year. Comedy plus Christmas plus beer.
Cribbage is right up there with Sheapshead and Euchre for the card game the most Wisconsinites think they’re “the best” at. This weekend you can prove it against card-slinging strangers at the 1873-established Puddler’s Hall in Bay View. A $10 buy-in gets you a chance for the 100% pot payout, or just come for the free food and old fashioned fun (and probably Old Fashioneds, too).
NOT TO DO
1) Participate in “Badger Hate Week“
This Saturday will see the annual non-conference in-state matchup between the Wisconsin Badgers and Marquette Gold basketball teams played at the Kohl Center East. There’s a reason UW-Madison is simply referred to as “Wisconsin”: it’s the state’s team.
