You know, I know, we all know that Milwaukee is not up-and-coming: we’re here, we’re beer, get used to it. Still, as great as Milwaukee continues to get, we’ll always inevitably reside in the windy, un-athletic shadow of our big sister to the south, Chicago.

But perhaps The City of Shoulders is finally taking notice of our northern renaissance: this coming week, the venerable Goose Island Brewery, makers of such classic craft beer as 312, Sofie, and the original Bourbon County Stout, will be spending their “Migration Week” in Milwaukee. What’s the mean for you, my dedicated readers? Why, more beer and food events, of course!

Biggest takeaway: Milwaukee’s beer, bar, and chef scene is now at a level that cities like Chicago and successful companies like Goose Island Brewery are taking notice and making moves to ingrain themselves locally.
