Greetings and Salutations my Thursday night explorers,

No matter what you are doing this Thursday, drop it and make your way to Mary’s Beercade for Welcome to Thursday! I’m not asking for you to commit a Grand Theft Auto or anything but as a fellow Milwaukeean, it is your Call of Duty to come out for a good time. I know all of you have a Need For Speed – but don’t worry, we will be there all night. You see, Welcome to Thursdays is a Portal to good times and a Far Cry from whatever else you would be doing… and I would be Dishonored if you couldn’t make it.

Mary’s Beercade is a place that was basically built for me, mixing two of my favorite things: video games and Welcome to Thursdays. It’s basically the gift that keeps on giving. With a wonderfully mixed menu of cocktails and beers, you are definitely going to find something to your liking. If you’re looking for food, look no further than Mary’s amazing flatbread pizzas. One of the awesome parts of Mary’s beercade is that when you buy a drink, many of the arcade games become open for play free! No more looking for a quarter machine, no more heavy pockets, just buy a beer and you’re in the clear!

Many may not know that beer has played a large role in the ever-growing gaming industry, all the way back to its earliest forms. For instance, the original Mario game features a very angry Donkey Kong throwing barrels down at Mario. What you don’t know is the cause of all of Donkey Kong’s anger; you see, he was promised Old Milwaukee and what he got was Bud Light. Since he was simply trying to impress a girl, I can relate: no respectable gentleman would be caught dead with Bud Light.

Kong’s frown says it all folks, always remember to treat your date right with an Old Mil!

Looking further into some gaming classics, you find that some games were based completely around beer, like the 1983 classic Tapper. The objective in this game, of course, was to serve as many customers as you could without letting the patrons wait too long. What no one really knows is that this game was inspired by the actual rush bars would get when they received their new shipments of Old Milwaukee!

Tapper! How much Old Milwaukee could you serve??

Another classic arcade game is a favorite of many from Welcome to Thursdays, as it can be played at Bay View’s Blackbird. “Ice Cold Beer” is as fun as it is challenging, and requires a steady hand. Some can go an entire night and not figure out its secrets.

A classic!!

Let’s get on out there this Thursday and celebrate beer, games, and how amazing the two of them can really be!

Cheers my friends!

Your Co-Founder and Friend,

Jeremy Blandin
