In GIFmoriam: Comedic Icon Gene Wilder

Death’s a tough one to write about. This past Monday we lost another good one: Gene Wilder. It’s a little eerie how topical his Milwaukee ties are as we reflect on his life, as Wilder (formerly Jerome Silberman) attended Washington High School in Sherman Park, just a few blocks from where the recent unrest took place.

Instead of dwelling on the sadness of both of these recent events tied to our fair city, let’s instead take a moment to celebrate the life of one of the 20th century’s greatest comedic actors in the best way us Millennials know how to process emotions: GIF-form.

Bonnie and Clyde (1967). All GIFs made on GIPHY. Featured image from Wikipedia.

The Producers (1967)

Start the Revolution Without Me (1970)

Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory (1971)

Everything You Always Wanted to Know About Sex (1972)

Blazing Saddles (1974)

Young Frankenstein (1974)

Silver Streak (1976)

Stir Crazy (1980)

We Milwaukeeans should take a few hours and enjoy some laughs courtesy our crazy-haired son.
