Greetings and Salutations,

Another week, another Thursday night journey. Every time, a new story to tell, a new beer to try, some food to enjoy. It all happens with Welcome to Thursdays, and this week comes at us like a tested veteran who knows exactly what they are. The Harp & Shamrock is no slouch when it comes to the bar scene; standing tall and running under the same name since the 60’s, this bar has seen its fair share of Milwaukee’s finest. To add to it all, the building itself has been around since the 1800’s!

The Harp & Shamrock knows exactly who they are and that’s exactly why they are still around. This dive knows what people want: good drinks, good people, and an easy going atmosphere for you to relax. No axes will be thrown here, no poetry will be read here, no gimmicks, just a bar  – and that my friends, is exactly what we need sometimes. I look forward to having a cold one with you this Thursday. As the nights get cooler we continue to heat up one Thursday at a time.

Now it’s time to take a step back in time to look at the beers of yesterday that are no longer with us. Come with me as we journey back to the 1930’s. The first thing we are going to do is visit the doctor and tell them we are not getting enough Vitamin D, a common condition in our cold, northern state. Here all my dreams come true, as a doctor prescribes beer for a healthier living🙌🙌: Schlitz Sunshine, the Vitamin D Beer.

Yes, this was real and it claimed to sooth heat-frayed nerves and awaken jaded spirits. You see according to Schlitz, beer is good for you – but Schlitz Sunshine is “extra good for you”. What makes me love this even more: they literally tell you to drink Schlitz daily. You don’t have to tell me twice!

Cheers my friends!

Your Co-founder and friend,

Jeremy Blandin
