I once saw a great quote that really made me think:
“Love our parents. We are so busy growing up, we often forget they are getting old.”
It made me realize that even our parents just want to have a little fun from time to time. This fits perfectly with our destination this Thursday as it is our annual parent’s night! A night to honor and respect those who brought us up. We honor them because of the life they gave us, the opportunities, and love. We respect them because they got through school without Wikipedia and Google. #props
Last year’s parent’s night was a huge success at the Newsroom Pub with many parents showing up to a night of fun and friends. Let’s show that parents, no matter how old, are always invited and welcome on Thursdays! We have some parents even driving in from other states! What better way to show your parents you love them than through an invitation to Welcome to Thursdays and beer!
This week we are in for quite the treat as we travel to a Milwaukee staple, Von Trier! Sitting on the corner of Farwell and North, Von Trier is home to many amazing drinks ranging from classic cocktails to brews both local and foreign. Von Trier literally means “From Trier” which was home to Karl Lotharius, the man who purchased a then-called Rieder’s.
The moment you walk into Von Trier you notice the classic German décor, mostly imported, along with the low-lit ambiance, and from there you know that you are in for one heck of a night. If the night air isn’t too chilly, top off a fresh pint and go explore the beautiful and personal beer garden area. On top of it being parent’s night, what makes this Thursday so special is that Welcome to Thursdays will get to experience Von Trier in all its original glory, as it was announced this past August that Von Trier will be closing its doors at the end of the year to make some major changes and become an upscale classic cocktail lounge. I for one wish Von Trier the best of luck in the future transition and I know I’ll be there when they re-open. We can still get out there and enjoy Von Trier because in many ways it is the perfect combo of amazing atmosphere and equally amazing drinks. I look forward to seeing all of you and all the parents out there. Get up and get out to Welcome to Thursdays!
